Metro West Council of Government Welcomes Lesli Melendy as New Executive Director

AURORA, IL.-This week the Metro West Council of Governments Board of Directors and staff welcomed their new Executive Director, Lesli Melendy, to the organization. Melendy succeeds Executive Director Mary Randle, who is retiring at the end of June.

Melendy brings years of experience in state government to the table, as she previously served as Chief of Staff for two state senators. She will leverage that skillset to help Metro West navigate the complicated and delicate relationship between state and local government. Melendy is also a member of the Huntley School Board and has a deep understanding of school district operations and challenges. An involved member of her local community, she also has several connections with volunteer and non-profit organizations throughout the region.

"We are fortunate to have someone with Lesli's experience and background leading Metro West to the next level; said Sean Michels, President, Metro West Council of Government. She is a strong communicator and understands the challenges of local government."

Melendy said it was a privilege to be chosen for the executive director position. "I am honored and excited to take the helm of Metro West, she said. The organization is poised and ready to go to the next level, and I look forward to advocating for our members so they can achieve new levels of success."

Metro West Council of Government is an association of municipalities serving a population of more than 750,000 in Kane, Kendall and DeKalb Counties in Illinois. Metro West fosters regional cooperation to address regional issues including managing growth, transportation and water conservation and promoting sustainable economic development. Metro West provides a united voice for municipalities and serves as their strong advocate. The Council provides networking opportunities for area mayors and managers, which allow them to share ideas and address common issues.
